Welding the Custom Smoke Box Trailer
4-Tier Heavy-Gauge Expanded Steel Pit
From the Air Force & Texas Oilfields to Building "Teddy's Smoke Box"
"This is not your normal BBQ. This is BBQ with attitude. When we cook for you, we are cooking for our family."
Owner & Pitmaster Rodney Wayne Tedford joined the U.S. Air Force straight out of high school. After receiving his honorable discharge, he spent nearly a decade working hard in the Texas oilfield. Following the 2015 oil patch layoff, he transitioned into roadway maintenance—where he still works proudly today—while pursuing his lifelong passion: mastering the art of live-fire Texas cooking.
After years of non-stop encouragement from family and friends who couldn't get enough of his brisket, ribs, and sides, Rodney took a leap of faith. With the help of good friends in the shop, he fabricated and welded his custom trailer smoker from the frame up. When it came time to name the business, he went back to the nickname his brothers-in-arms gave him in the military: "Teddy."
